Benj Pasek and Justin Paul are officially EGOT winners!

The songwriting duo, whose notable stage credits include Roald Dahl’s James and the Giant Peach, Dogfight, A Christmas Story – The Musical and Dear Evan Hansen, can now count at least one Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony Award among their list of accolades, after picking up a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics for “Which of the Pickwick Triplets Did It?” from Only Murders in the Building. The pair co-wrote the song with Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman (Hairspray).

They previously earned Tony Awards for Dear Evan Hansen (2017) and as producers of A Strange Loop (2022), a Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album for Dear Evan Hansen (2018) and an Oscar for Best Original Song for “City of Stars” from La La Land (2017).

Other film and television credits include The Greatest Showman, Tom and Jerry: Back to Oz, Disney’s Aladdin (2019), and next year’s live-action remake of Disney’s Snow White.

Disney Theatrical officially confirmed an eagerly anticipated stage adaptation of The Greatest Showman at the D23 event last month, while a circus show inspired by the movie and featuring its songs is set to begin performances in London later this month. In addition, the first-ever UK tour of Dear Evan Hansen begins performances at Nottingham Playhouse this evening.

Pasek and Paul became the 20th and 21st members of the exclusive EGOT club, joining such predecessors as Elton John, Jennifer Hudson, Alan Menken, Tim Rice, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Whoopi Goldberg.
