The Diana: The Musical alum is set to make a special virtual appearance
Exclusive: Jeanna de Waal, who originated the titular role in Diana: The Musical on Broadway, has joined the cast for the upcoming production of Diana: The Untold and Untrue Story.
De Waal will appear digitally in the piece, joining Linus Karp (he/him) as Diana, Joseph Martin (he/they) as Charles and Camilla, Geri Allen (she/her) as The Queen and Zina Badran (she/her) as God.
Karp, who also serves as writer, director and producer, commented: “Jeanna de Waal is a ridiculously talented performer, a wonderful human and the ultimate Dicon. To get to perform with her and to have her join Diana: The Untold and Untrue Story is just beyond exciting. Put on your best dresses and come see her Di-tastic performance!”
Combining “drag, multimedia, audience interaction, puppetry and queer joy”, the piece is set in heaven and highlights Diana’s pioneering stances on social and LGBTQ+ issues.
Produced by Awkward Productions, the creative team also includes co-director, puppeteer and stage manager Joseph Martin (he/they), designer Amy Pitt (she/her), choreographer Sam Carlyle (she/her), composer and graphic designer Wez Maddocks (he/him), LX designer Ebbe Rodtborg (he/him), additional LX designer James Appleby (he/him), photographer and videographer Dave Bird (he/him), video editor Daniel Boylett (he/him), drag and makeup artist Carrot (they/them) and puppetry consultant Tara Boland (she/her).
Diana: The Untold and Untrue Story runs at at the new Kings Head Theatre from 17 April to 5 May 2024.
