Complete casting has been confirmed for the upcoming world premiere of The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.
The musical features a book and lyrics by Richard Hough and music by Alexander S Bermange, and is directed by Kirk Jameson.
Inspired by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe’s poem “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice”, later popularised through the Disney classic Fantasia, the musical is set in a Scandinavian town facing collapse. The story follows a sorcerer and his apprentice as they attempt to work together to prevent disaster.
The piece was first released in a digital format in 2021 and has since been developed further for the stage. This new version features additional material and will be performed by a cast of ten.
The company includes Emma Salvo (Come From Away) as Greta and Olivier Award nominee Sophie-Louise Dann (Wicked) as Lamia, alongside Imogen Craig as Eva, Kai Davies (Clarkston) as Erik, Mateo Oxley (The 39 Steps) as Fabian, and Mark Rice-Oxley (Blood Brothers) as Johan.
Rounding out the cast are Jacob Beresford (Back to the Future: The Musical) as Male Ensemble 2, Adriana Da Cunha as Female Ensemble 1, Sharlise Fitzgerald as Female Ensemble 2, and Josh Rosewood (Chitty Chitty Bang Bang) as Male Ensemble 1.
The creative team includes choreographer Khiley Williams, designer Anna Kelsey, re-designer Lucy Fowler, lighting designer Adam Foley, sound designers Andrew Johnson and Findlay Claydon, and magic consultant Scott Penrose.
Presented by James Seabright, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice is scheduled to run at HOME in Manchester from 27 November 2026 until 2 January 2027.
