Hugh Jackman started his career on stage in Australia with Beauty and the Beast (1995) and Sunset Boulevard (1996). He received a Laurence Olivier Award nomination for his role as Curly McLain in Oklahoma! (1998) on the West End. He made his Broadway debut playing Peter Allen in The Boy from Oz (2004), for which he won the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical. He also starred in A Steady Rain (2009) opposite Daniel Craig, The River (2014–15), and the revival of The Music Man (2021–2023).
Jackman is also known for his performances in musical films such as Les Misérables (2012), where he played Jean Valjean, and The Greatest Showman (2017), where he portrayed P.T. Barnum. His role in The Greatest Showman earned him a Grammy Award for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media.
