In 2009, Blood co-founded the theatre company WE. BUY. GOLD. with Tom McCall while at LAMDA. Their debut production, Inches Apart, co-written and starring Blood, won the Old Vic New Voices Theatre503 Award and was professionally staged at Theatre503.
That same year, he made his professional stage debut as Adam in The Priory at the Royal Court Theatre.
In 2010, he played Sordido in Women Beware Women at the National Theatre, directed by Marianne Elliott. In 2011, he starred as Stuart Sutcliffe in Backbeat at the Duke of York’s Theatre, learning bass guitar for the role and later joining the band Shaaark.
The show was a critical success and later had a brief run in Toronto in 2012.
